🐄 How To Hit Your Protein Goals

CrossFit's famous "Fitness in 100 Words" starts with the phrase "Eat Meat" for a reason: Protein helps with muscle recovery, sleep, bone health and energy. Are you extremely sore? Chances are, you're not getting enough protein in. If you are attending class consistently, you should be aiming to consume roughly 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight. For example, if you weigh 175 pounds, you should be shooting for roughly 175 grams of protein daily.

If hitting your daily protein intake goal sounds daunting, here are 4 ways to help you hit your protein goals:

  1. TRACK IT
    Make sure you are writing down or tracking what you're eating daily. Whether you use your notes App, Cronometer, My Fitness Pal or another app, writing down what you're eating helps you see what's working...and what's not.

  2. GET A GOOD START
    Make sure you're getting a protein-rich breakfast to kick off the day. Protein-packed Kodiak pancakes, greek yogurt, a protein shake, or eggs, meat and cottage cheese all make for excellent fuel for your day.

  3. SNACK RIGHT
    If the midday munchies hit, reach for snack foods high in protein, rather than salty or crunchy foods that will leave you pining for more (empty calories). Almonds, jerky or meat sticks, hardboiled eggs and protein bars (check the ingredients) are all fantastic options.

  4. SUPPLEMENT
